Inspiration-the photo

As you can now see on My Inspiration page, Lisa has given me permission to use the photo of Bob and Lisa, and Bob’s service dog, crossing the finish line of the 2009 Missoula Marathon.  For those of us in Missoula, their story has truly resonated for many years, and Bob will always be known as one of our heroes.  Bob was shot in the line of duty on Oct. 21, 1998, and suffered almost complete paralysis from that incident. Tragically, Bob died Feb. 12, 2010.  May his example of bravery guide our steps.

But also, it is important to note, that Bob is not the only hero here.  Lisa was a young bride at the time of the shooting, looking forward to a life of joy.  Whereas I am sure she and Bob had many moments of joy following the shooting, there must have been many moments, hours and days of hardship and pain for both of them.  And Lisa stayed right there, by her love.  While Bob’s example of bravery will guide our steps, Lisa’s example of true love and devotion will guide our hearts.

Bob and Lisa worked with the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation to raise money for spinal cord injury research.  It is a very worthy cause.
